A little history.

Post WW1 jewellery designs changed.

Platinum became in common use. This enabled them to construct highly rigid, thin metal frames that could seamlessly support a dense wall of pavé-set diamonds on a curved, domed crown often like this piece with calibre cut sapphires.

In the US, illegal parties became common in the 1920s Prohibition era, Women were no longer obedient! They bought their own jewellery! They wore large, flashing cocktail rings on their right hands—frequently choosing the high-profile bombé style—to intentionally draw attention to themselves whilst holding a cocktail!

The Art Deco diamond and sapphire bombé ring is an iconic symbol of 1920s glamour, fusing technical innovation with the massive social shifts of the Interwar period.
